Appointments
Our office is open 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM Monday through Friday
except for major holidays. Appointments may be made at the time
of your visits or by calling (540) 982-8881. If you are unable
to come for an appointment, please call to cancel or reschedule
so that another patient may use the time.
We have organized our scheduling system to enable us to see
scheduled patients efficiently and as close to the appointed
time as possible. We understand that long waits are inconvenient
and uncomfortable. However, emergencies and unexpected delays
may occur. When we know we are running late we will try to
advise you so that you may make other arrangements or reschedule
your appointment.
Phone Calls
If you have medical questions or problems please call us
during office hours when we have access to your records. A nurse
will always be available to answer your questions. If you need
to speak with your doctor, let the nurse know when he or she can
return your call. Please understand that your doctor may be
unable to return calls until lunch-time or after office hours
due to a busy schedule.
If you have an urgent problem which requires an office visit,
the doctor or nurse will determine the best time for you to come
in based on the nature of the problem and the time needed to
evaluate it. Please be assured that if your problem is an
emergency you will be seen promptly and expediently. An on-call
physician for the practice will help you if your regular
physician is not available.
After-Hours Care
After office hours, a Physicians To Women doctor is on-call
for emergencies. Please call the paging operator at the Carilion
Roanoke Memorial Hospital at (540) 981-7000 and identify
yourself as one of our private patients. The operator will then
contact the doctor on-call for you.
Authorization for prescription refills is generally given
during regular office hours. After hours the doctor will call in
enough medicine to last until appropriate appointments can be
made or your chart is available.
In-Hospital Care
We admit our patients to the Carilion Roanoke Memorial
Hospital (an affiliate of the Carilion Health System) which
takes pride in state-of-the-art technologies and personalized
care. We are trained and equipped to perform any gynecologic
procedure you may need including hysterectomy, removal of pelvic
masses, Caesarean section, laparoscopy, vaginal and urinary
surgery, sterilizations, hysteroscopy, microsurgical
sterilization reversals and laser surgery.
We care for our obstetrical patients in the modern Family
Birth Center, a unit that offers family-centered care with
labor-delivery-recovery-postpartum rooms, liberal visitation
policies, rooming-in, and 24 hour epidural anesthesia
availability.
Payment For Services
Charges by Physicians to Women are comparable to fees charged
by other obstetrician-gynecologists in this area.
To decrease billing costs and thereby save added expenses to
our patients, we request payment at the time of your visit in
the office. Cash, checks, money orders, VISA, and MasterCard are
all accepted. If you have insurance which pays for office visits
we ask that you pay your bill and then file for reimbursement
from your insurance company. Your receipt for the visit, or "superbill,"
contains all the information your company will need.
Should you require surgery or a hospital admission, our
insurance manager will assist you in completing claim forms.
Insurance that does not fully cover our charges will require
billing the difference to you through our regular billing
system. We understand that larger fees can impose difficult
financial burdens so we are pleased to work out a payment plan
that will not create hardships. If you ever have questions or
concerns about your bill, we will be happy to discuss them with
you. |
